Armenia continues to be Russia’s ally, says Kremlin

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 25, ARMENPRESS. Armenia remains Russia’s ally, the Kremlin said Monday.

“Armenia continues to be our ally, our close state,” Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said. “Armenia is a close nation to us. You know that more Armenians live in our country than in Armenia itself, significantly more. We will continue to fulfill our functions, we will continue dialogue with the Armenian side, including with Pashinyan, and we will continue to work in order for all rights of the Armenian residents of Karabakh to be maintained,” he said.

Russia continues dialogue with all parties involved, Peskov added.

He said that Russia welcomes mediation efforts by third countries as long as they don’t do so simply for recording their presence in the region.

If anyone can help to ease the tension and “help integrate the Armenian population of Karabakh with the new reality, then this can only be welcomed,” the Kremlin spokesperson said. “But this requires agreement from all parties,” he added.
