Azerbaijani fake news campaign again falsely accuses Nagorno-Karabakh of jamming GPS of civilian aircraft

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Azerbaijan released more disinformation on Tuesday with more false accusations targeting Nagorno-Karabakh.

The Azerbaijani authorities are now falsely accusing Nagorno-Karabakh’s Defense Army of jamming the GPS system of a civilian aircraft en route from Baku to Tbilisi on September 18.

In a statement, the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry denied the accusations and described it as a “complete lie.” It said that the aircraft operating the abovementioned route not only don’t cross into Nagorno-Karabakh airspace, but doesn't even approach it.

“The statement of the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry is a complete lie. The aircraft operating the abovementioned route not only doesn’t require to cross into the airspace of Artsakh Republic, but also doesn’t require to approach it. By regularly generating such false statements, Azerbaijan seeks to divert the international community’s attention from the humanitarian disaster resulting from the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor, and prepare the information base for its next provocation,” the Nagorno-Karabakh Defense Ministry said in a statement.

It added that during and after the 2020 war, Azerbaijan itself has been consistently targeting the civilian infrastructure in Nagorno-Karabakh, blocking the Lachin Corridor, disrupting gas and electricity supplies and jamming internet and mobile connection.
