International law expert explains ECHR’s urgent notification sent to Committee of Ministers

YEREVAN, JANUARY 17, ARMENPRESS. International law expert Ara Ghazaryan explained why the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) sent an urgent notification to the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on unblocking of the Lachin Corridor.

Speaking at a press conference, Ghazaryan said the fact that the ECHR communicated with the Committee of Ministers means that Azerbaijan’s arguments are not trustworthy for the ECHR.

“This will be followed by the initiation of proceedings by the Committee of Ministers and an interim resolution will be adopted, which is already a political document stating that Azerbaijan does not implement the ECHR decision. The Committee of Ministers will invite Azerbaijan to present explanations. If the explanations are deemed unsatisfactory by the Committee of Ministers, a resolution will be adopted as a final document stating that Azerbaijan does not fulfill the judgment of the ECHR in this case,” Ghazaryan said.
