Armenia won record number of medals in international sports tournaments in 2022

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 21, ARMENPRESS. Armenia won a record number of medals in international tournaments during 2022, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Karen Giloyan told reporters.
“At this moment Armenia has 306 medals, 104 of which are gold medals. This is the best result,” Giloyan said.
Speaking about the development of sports infrastructure, Giloyan said that the construction of the Athletic Sports Arena in Artashat will be completed in April next year. He said the Artur Alexanyan Sports School construction is proceeding in full-swing and they plan to organize an international championship there.
The Simon Martirosyan Weightlifting School will be completed in the next two months, while the Artur Abraham Boxing School and the Vic Darchinyan Boxing School will be opened in the coming years.
There is a likelihood that Yerevan will host the 2023 European Sambo Championships, Giloyan added.
Speaking about winter sports, Giloyan said that the President of the International Ski Federation will soon visit Yerevan.
