YEREVAN, DECEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS. The Union of Veterans of Armenia was named afterMarshal of the Soviet Union Hovhannes Baghramyan on the occasion of the renowned Armenian military commander’s 125th anniversary of birth.
Family members of Marshal Baghramyan – including his grandson Ivan Baghramyan, Defense Ministry officials, representatives of the diplomatic corps were among the attendees at the event.
The director of Dom Moskvy (House of Moscow) Culture-Business Center Vahram Karapetyan said that Marshal Baghramyan is a symbol of patriotic upbringing for the youth. “His contribution in the security of the country is invaluable. We are happy to be part of this event. We are committed to stand by our heroes in the future, which contributes to developing the bilateral relations between Russia and Armenia,” he added.
WWII veteran Rozalia Abgaryan said she is proud that the Union of Veterans will bear the name of Marshal Baghramyan.
