Armenian President receives ADB Director General of Central and West Asia Regional Department

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS. President Vahagn Khachaturyan received Eugene Zhukov, Director General of Central and West Asia Regional Department at the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Presidential Office said.

The meeting was also attended by ADB Armenia Director Paolo Spantigati and Deputy Finance Minister Vahe Hovhannisyan.

Welcoming Mr. Zhukov, President Khachaturyan said that since 2005 when the cooperation between the Asian Development Bank and Armenia has officially started, the Bank has become one of the most important international partners of Armenia. The President stated that he attaches importance to the projects implemented by the Bank jointly with the government and the private sector.

Eugene Zhukov in turn thanked the President for the welcome and said that Armenia is one of the most important partners of ADB, and they intend to continue and further expand the multi-layered cooperation programs both in the private sector and with the government of Armenia, which relate to transportation communication, green economy, education and a number of other areas.

During the meeting the Armenian President touched upon the economic and political developments in South Caucasus and their impact on the economic development of the region. He said that peace and security environment are one of the key conditions for a qualitative change of the economic development in Armenia and the whole region, and Armenia is adhered to its position to establish peaceful and friendly relations with all neighbors.

Both sides emphasized the importance of continuation of the mutual partnership between Armenia and the Asian Development Bank in the future.
