YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 23, ARMENPRESS. Russia supports the initiative to rearm the CSTO peacekeeping forces, ARMENPRESS reports, citing Interfax, Russian President Vladimir Putin said during the CSTO session in Yerevan.
"It can be noted with satisfaction that the very valuable practical experience gained during the peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan was analyzed by us and the Secretariat of the organization. Russia, of course, supports the important decision submitted for our approval on arming the organization's peacekeeping forces with modern weapons, military and special equipment, as well as special means," said the Russian President.
According to Putin, decisions should be made during the summit on the improvement of the CSTO communication system, the joint formation of radiation, chemical, biological defense and medical support, and the launch of a unified system of railway technical coverage in the CSTO. He assured that Russia unconditionally supports these measures.
