Armenia attaches great importance to inter-parliamentary cooperation format with Poland

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 8, ARMENPRESS. The format of inter-parliamentary cooperation has an important place in the agenda of the Armenian-Polish relations. Armenia is attaching great importance to the development of this cooperation as a key component of interstate ties, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on European Integration Affairs Arman Yeghoyan said during the meeting with Chairman of the Polish Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and European Union, Bogdan Klich, the Armenian Parliament’s press service said.

Arman Yeghoyan thanked Bogdan Klich for visiting Armenia “especially in these difficult times”.

He said that the visit of the Armenia-Poland Friendship Group to Poland a month ago was very productive. The agenda of the relations has become quite comprehensive thanks to joint efforts, covering different areas of cooperation. The Armenian lawmaker said that Poland has an important role in the European Union and the Council of Europe, adding that Armenia needs support from the European platforms.

“Poland is one of the first countries that ratified the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement, for which we want to thank you”, Yeghoyan said.

He presented the situation in Armenia and Artsakh, touched upon the issue of the immediate and unconditional repatriation of Armenian prisoners of war and civilians held in Azerbaijan, as well as stressed the need for humanitarian assistance. He called the Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia’s sovereign territory unacceptable.

In his turn Polish Senator Bogdan Klich thanked for the warm welcome. He said Armenia plays an important role in the region. The Senator expressed readiness to continue the productive partnership.

The regional challenges, as well as the ways to resist those challenges were also touched upon during the meeting.
