Yerevan hosts first session of Armenian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Yerevan hosted today the first session of the Armenian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission.

In his remarks Armenian Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan said that the session outlined all the priority steps which will help to boost the relations between the two countries not only in the commercial but also in different other areas.

“We have a list of a lot of works to do and also talks on some issues, and I think that the cooperation connected with intensive orchards and the TUMO is the most realistic for implementing it in a short period of time”, he said, adding that the Kyrgyz partners have visited both the TUMO and several agricultural sites of intensive orchards.

He stated that Armenia’s mutual trade with Belarus will soon cross 100 million dollars, that with Kazakhstan is not surpassing 50 million dollars, and with Kyrgyzstan – 5 million dollars. “Our economic relations with Russia are very important, but there is a very big potential with other countries of the EAEU as well”, he said.

Minister Kerobyan said Armenia is trying to intensify the relations with the other member states of the EAEU. “The trade turnover between the two countries in the first 8 months of this year is around 3 million dollars. I think it will reach 5 million dollars by the end of the year, but the potential is many times higher. Another sector, where there is cooperation and we should continue, is the export of fish food from Armenia to Kyrgyzstan”, Vahan Kerobyan said, stating that Kyrgyzstan is interesting to Armenia from the perspective of hydroenergy and solar energy. “We are interested in the agricultural opportunities of Kyrgyzstan. As China is our second largest trade partner and neighbors with Kyrgyzstan, we are interested in Kyrgyzstan’s opportunities aimed at deepening the trade with China”, the minister said.

Minister of Economy of KyrgyzstanDaniyar Amangeldievthanked the Armenian side for the proper organization of the session and highlighted the intensification of commercial relations between the two countries. “We are ready to use the experience of our Armenian partners in the field of the development of intensive orchards.
