YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 2, ARMENPRESS. Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan commented on the statements made by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko during the recent meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council.
“I am sorry that I have to react that I didn’t see any seriousness in his statements. I am afraid his remarks were not so his own”, the Speaker told reporters at a briefing.
Asked whom he means by saying this, the Speaker said: “It could be from Almaty, Baku, Moscow, but he is definitely not the author of his words. I think he has many internal problems. I suppose the Belarusian people also did not like what Mr. Lukashenko said”.
During the recent CSTO session Alexander Lukashenko said that it won’t be right to oppose CSTO to Azerbaijan. “Azerbaijan is now headed by absolutely our man, Ilham Aliyev. What will happen tomorrow, no one knows, he is not forever, therefore, these issues must be solved now”, he said, adding that both Armenia and Azerbaijan are “close” countries of Belarus, and the conflict between the two countries must be solved exclusively peacefully. He also stated that Belarus and he, as President, will support any agreed upon decision between Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan.
