Armenia, Iran discuss completing construction of third power transmission line as soon as possible

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 1, ARMENPRESS. Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Gnel Sanosyan met with Iran’s Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian in Tehran, Minister Sanosyan said in a statement on social media.

“During the meeting we discussed a number of issues of the bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, particularly outlining new directions for partnership, increasing electricity export volumes, completing the construction of Iran-Armenia third power transmission line as soon as possible, which will enable to increase the volumes of gas imported to Armenia and the electricity exported from Armenia via the Gas for Electricity project”, Sanosyan said.

The Armenian and Iranian ministers discussed also the prospects of jointly developing the potential existing in the field of renewable energy.

Gnel Sanosyan introduced Ali Akbar Mehrabian on the ongoing large-scale work in the energy sector in Armenia, the programs of upgrading the Nuclear Power Plant, as well as constructing a new NPP.
