Use of force distorts processes aimed at establishing peace and security in South Caucasus – Armenian Parliament Speaker

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 28, ARMENPRESS. At a press briefing following the plenary session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, the Speaker of Parliament of Armenia Alen Simonyan said that he has introduced his colleagues on the current situation in South Caucasus, presenting in particularly episodes relating to the latest Azerbaijani aggression against Armenia’s sovereign territory, the Parliament’s press service said.

Alen Simonyan said that the military aggression of Azerbaijan on September 13, 2022 has been carried out in the sovereign territory of Armenia and has violated the internationally recognized borders of Armenia.

“We think that the use of force or threat of force distorts the ongoing processes in the region aimed at establishing peace and security in South Caucasus. The political assessment of the situation, which will be presented by our partners, is also important for Armenia”, the Speaker said.

He stated that the Parliament of Armenia is attaching importance to the cooperation within interparlimentary organizations. The Armenian MPs are represented in all ten standing committees of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.

Alen Simonyan assured that the Armenian delegation will continue actively participating in the CIS IPA joint work in the future as well aimed at modernizing the legislation, cooperating in humanitarian and cultural spheres.
