Azerbaijan’s aggression a direct attack on Armenia’s sovereignty – Luxembourg parliament speaker

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 19, ARMENPRESS. Member of Parliament of Armenia Sona Ghazaryan has sent a letter, as head of the Armenia-Luxembourg Parliamentary Friendship Group, to President of the Chamber of Deputies of Luxembourg Fernand Etgen over the latest aggression of Azerbaijan against Armenia.

In her letter Sona Ghazaryan presented the situation in Armenia and the danger of a new attack, the Parliament’s press service said.

Responding to the letter, Mr. Etgen on behalf of the parliament of Luxembourg has expressed full continuous support to Armenia’s democracy and territorial integrity, emphasizing that the aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia is a direct attack on Armenia’s sovereignty.

As a support, Fernand Etgen said a decision has been made to send a high-ranking delegation of the Parliament of Luxembourg to Armenia. The dates of the visit are being clarified.

ADR faction head FernandKartheiser informed that the Foreign Minister of Luxembourg Jean Asselborn responded to the questions of the Armenian MP relating to Azerbaijan’s latest aggression, reaffirmed the condemnation of Azerbaijan’s actions, stating that they have been condemned by the European Union.

The FM of Luxembourg said the deployment of EU mission on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is important which could play a stabilizing role.

Jean Asselborn also said that the EU mission could contribute also to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.

The FM once again urged to refrain from processes contributing to further escalation of the situation.
