Bulgaria is the friendly door that is open for export of Armenian products to Europe – President Khachaturyan

SOFIA, OCTOBER 18, ARMENPRESS. Armenia highly values the cooperation with Bulgaria both in the bilateral and multilateral formats, and also within the Armenia-EU partnership, President Vahagn Khachaturyan said during a press conference in Sofia, following his meeting with Bulgarian President Rumen Radev.

The Armenian President said Bulgaria is a reliable partner for Armenia in the field of increasing the mutual connectivity of the region.

“Today, Armenia and Bulgaria are connected with necessary international legal effective tools for mutual partnership, all the necessary formats and mechanisms exist for the further deepening of the bilateral relations. I want to praise the sustainable political dialogue and the achievements being registered in bilateral relations”, the Armenian President said on the sidelines of his state visit. He highlighted more effectively utilizing the potential existing between the two countries in economic, commercial and investment fields.

“Bulgaria is also the friendly door that is open for the export of Armenian production to Europe. The Armenian side is interested in improving and developing the infrastructures uniting the two countries, including in the establishment of direct air communication between the two capitals. In this context, the operation of direct flights from Yerevan to Bulgaria’s coastal cities during summer was a successful example. I highly appreciate also the support of the Bulgarian side to the process of creating a Persian Gulf-Black Sea international transport and transit corridor”, he stated.

He attached specific importance to the deepening of cooperation in high technologies, transportation, agriculture, healthcare, education, culture, tourism and many other areas. “I also praise the events approved by respective cooperation programs in education, science and also culture sectors, as well as the effective organization of studies of Armenian students in Bulgaria’s universities. I am confident we will soon have an opportunity to give a new signal to both the parliamentary diplomacy and the activities of the Armenian-Bulgarian Inter-governmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation”, Vahagn Khachaturyan said.

He stated that Armenia and Bulgaria are united by both common values and cultural connections, but also by the pages of joint history of the heroic fight for freedom and independence. The Armenian President expressed gratitude to Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people for the asylum, care provided to Armenians, for the opportunity to live peacefully, develop and at the same time preserve the national identity, as well as the Bulgarian authorities’ care to the Armenian cultural heritage and the support which is constantly provided to the Armenian community.

The President assured that he will continue the efforts aimed at expanding the Armenian-Bulgarian cooperation.
