Kazakhstan’s President calls on CIS states to jointly counter risks and threats

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 14, ARMENPRESS. President of KazakhstanKassym-Jomart Tokayev says CIS participating states should jointly counter the risks and threats, including in the field of fighting extremism and terrorism.

“We need to operationally develop measures to counter new risks and threats”, Tokayev said at the session of the heads of CIS state in Astana. “Kazakhstan shares the joint approaches of CIS states in improving the organizational-legal mechanisms of the Commonwealth to fight against extremism and terrorism. We are expressing readiness in the close coordinated work to fulfill the tasks of the program adopted today for the fight against extremism”, he stated, reports Kazinform.

The CIS summit has kicked off in Astana. The leaders of the CIS states are discussing integration cooperation in policy, economy, humanitarian spheres, the further development of trade-investment partnership within the Commonwealth, as well as the security issues.
