Chief of Police honors memory of officers killed during Azeri bombing of Shushi in 2020

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 4, ARMENPRESS. Chief of Police of Armenia Major-General Vahe Ghazaryan and top police officials laid flowers at the Commemoration Wall in tribute to the memory of officers who died on the line of duty.

Major-General Ghazaryan and the other top officials paid tribute to the memory of the 27 police officers who had joined the military and were killed in the Azerbaijani bombardment of the Culture House in Shushi on October 4, 2020, during the 44-Day War.

“The 44-Day War began on September 27, 2020. The entire territory of Artsakh was under bombardment and missile strikes from early morning. Once again Armenians had to affirm their right to live freely, independently and peacefully in their homeland. And everyone joined the defense of the homeland to stand with the Armenian soldier and officer, to not allow the Azeri-Turkish [mob] to breach into the country to implement its genocidal aspirations. Police officers were also among those who swiftly reported for duty on September 27. The first police units were formed, who were deployed to the frontline to fight together with the regular army and the militia. The training was completed on October 3 and the officers departed for Artsakh the same day. And on October 4, during a de-briefing, an enemy missile hit the Shushi Culture House hall,” the police said in a statement.
