YEREVAN, APRIL 7, ARMENPRESS.  “Motherland”, "Dashnaktsutyun"  (ARF), “Democracy”, “Movement-88”  and "Renaissance" factions of the National Assembly of Nagorno Karabakh Republic have issued a joint statement, calling on the international institutions, and particularly the Minks Group Co-chairmanship, the only internationally authorized format for Karabakh conflict settlement, to give a precise legal-political assessment to the terrorist acts taken by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the recent days.

“Early in the morning of April 2 of the current year Azerbaijan severely violated the trilateral ceasefire agreement signed in May 1994, by waging large-scale military actions along the entire Karabakh-Azerbaijan contact line.

The disproportionate attitude of the international community towards the ceasefire violations by official Baku during the previous years led to unprecedented military offensive by Azerbaijan, during which numerous prohibited weapons were applied, a number of bordering villages and cities were bombed, cases of brutal murders and inhumane violence were registered.

We, MPs representing all the factions of the National Assembly of NKR chosen by the people, condemning the aggression of Azerbaijan against the peaceful people of Artsakh

-reconfirm that being an advocate of a peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict, the priority task for Artsakh Republic was and remains ensuring the security of its people, which has been under threat in the recent days due to terrorist acts taken by Azerbaijan,

- believe, that by launching a new phase of military actions against the people of Artsakh, Azerbaijan and its supporters try to turn the South Caucasus into a new hot spot of terrorism, which is a serious challenge for the security system of the region,

-highly appreciate the confident and determined actions of the NKR Defense Army for ensuring the security of the state and the people.

-call on the international institutions, and particularly the Minks Group Co-chairmanship, the only internationally authorized format for Karabakh conflict settlement, to give a precise legal-political assessment to the terrorist acts taken by Azerbaijan against Nagorno Karabakh Republic in the recent days and take concrete measures to restrain Azerbaijani aggression.

The only and the shortest reasonable way to put an end to the current situation is the legal recognition of Nagorno Karabakh Republic which will give an opportunity to fully ensure the security of its people and regional stability based on internationally accepted guarantees".
