Turkish Foreign Ministry hysterical regarding statements by Greek officials about Armenian Genocide
YEREVAN, MARCH 18, ARMENPRESS. The official Ankara is hysterical on recent statements by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and President Prokopis Pavlopoulos regarding the Armenian Genocide. As "Armenpress" reports, citing the Turkish "Milliyet" newspaper, the Turkish Foreign Ministry labeled these statements as “result of morbid approach against the Turkish identity." Turkish Foreign Ministry Spokesman Tanju Bilgic called the statements of the Greek officials "unrealistic, unilateral and illegal."
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan visited Greece on March 14, met with senior officials, including President Pavlopoulis and Prime Minister Tsipras. During the meeting with President Sargsyan , President Pavlopoulis said: "When we, Greeks and Armenians, remind about the Genocides of the Armenians, the Genocides of the Greek in Pontus and Asia Minor, we do not do it because of revenge against the Turkish people. Our job is to forever remember and to prevent such crimes against humanity in the future. They are these memories and lessons of this tragedy, that unite us against the terrorists of yesterday’s attack in Ankara. "
