Armenians’ pages full of pain kept in Italian archives

Armenians’ pages full of pain kept in Italian archives

YEREVAN, 11 APRIL, ARMENPRESS: Giacomo Gorini, who is known as the General Consul of Italy to Trabzon in 1911-1915 and then the Ambassador of Italy to Armenia in 1923, in the Italian diplomatic circles is known as the founder of the archives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy. Right here, the items related to Armenia are under the 60th number of the “Catalog”, which are divided by 8 archive folders and include political documents of 1891-1914 period.
Italy is the only state, the Armenian issue and Armenian Genocide-related documents, kept in the archives of the country, were almost unknown to the general public till the recent times. To fill this gap, by the mediation of the Embassy of Armenia to Italy and with the permission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, as a result of Aramayis Baloyan’s work in the historical diplomatic archives of MFA, a book has been created entitled “Italian Foreign Ministry's diplomatic archive documents on the Armenian issue in 1913-1923”.
