South Florida to host first Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemoration event in the USA

YEREVAN, 16 JANUARY, ARMENPRESS. Florida Atlantic University will host the first official event dedicated to the 100thanniversary of the Armenian Genocide in the USA on January 24, 2015. As the Armenian community of Florida told “Armenpress”, the Armenian Genocide Commemoration non-profit organization has invited Boston’s Sayat Nova Dance Company to perform in Boca Raton. The Company’s mission is to preserve Armenian culture and foster its dissemination. The dance company’s new performance is dedicated to the 100thanniversary of the Armenian Genocide.

“The program presents the evolution of Armenian history through music, dance and poetry. It’s a journey through pagan times, the adoption of Christianity, the Vardanants war, cultural renaissance, the Armenian Genocide all the way to the independent Armenia. The audience will experience moments of victory and despair as it sees the history of the Armenian people during the dance,” the dance company’s general manager Karen Avetisyansaid.
