YEREVAN, DECEMBER 5, ARMENPRESS: Armenia has increased its security expenses since the 90s up to now more than ten times. The President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan stated about it at the 7th conference of the Armenia's Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs. Touching upon the economic priorities and challenges of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan emphasized that it is very important not only to improve the investment environment but also to maintain the country’s security.
“When we speak about taxes-GDP correlation and the budget volume, believe me, our aim is not to show that we spend more money than in the past or that we work better than we used to. My aim is to know how much money we spend on security and social issues. It is important both for the investments and the security of our citizens. Thus, if in 1995 we spent for security issues 19,1 billion drams, in 2005 – 64,4 billion, in 2014 we will spend about 200 billion. The difference, I guess, is obvious. This is done to ensure the physical and economic security of our nation”, - said Serzh Sargsyan, Armenpress reports.
