Armenia’s trade indexes with EEU member states

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 10, ARMENPRESS: The general trade index of Armenia and member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has reached 839 million 535 thousand 500 dollars in the 8 months of the running year, which makes the 23.1% of the general volume of Armenia’s foreign trade, Armenpress reports.

Product of 646 million 670 thousand has been imported from EEU member state Russia from January to August, product of 184 million 775.8 thousand has been exported. Product of 17 million 67.5 thousand dollars has been imported from Belarus, and exported 5 million 529.4 thousand.

Armenia’s trade indexes with Kazakhstan in the 8 months of this year are the following: the import has reached nearly 352.8 million dollars and the export – more than 4 million 572.5 thousand Dollars.

Armenia will join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan on January 1, 2015. The corresponding agreement was signed in Minsk on October 10 at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

The agreement is the basic document defining the accords between Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan for creating the EEU for free movement of goods, services, capital and workforce and conducting coordinated, agreed or common policies in key sectors of the economy, such as energy, industry, agriculture and transport. The document says that the union is open for accession by any state sharing the union’s goals and principles on the terms agreed by the member countries.The document stipulates a 10-year period for the union’s member states to fully harmonize their national legislatures. The Union will officially go into effect on 1 January 2015, assuming the treaty is approved by the parliaments of the three countries
