Iraq relies on Armenia’s aid in restoring country: Ambassador

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. The previous year was very efficient for the development of the Armenian-Iraqi relations. Newly appointed Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq to Armenia Ghazi Taher Khale noted it with satisfaction in a conversation with “Armenpress”. The Ambassador stated that he expects to continue activities with similar intensiveness in the coming year recording new successes in bilateral relations.

“Iraq wants to deepen cooperation with Armenia and attaches importance to the contribution of your country to the restoration of Iraq. We need Armenian specialists,” Ghazi Taher Khale said.

Taking into consideration that the Embassy of Iraq reopened in Armenia in 2013 June, the Ambassador highly appreciated the work carried out within that period. He once again reiterated that his country is ready to develop relations with Armenia in all areas highlighting the development of trade-economic relations.

Many agreements were signed between Armenia and Iraq on economic, commercial, scientific and technical cooperation in the previous year. The delegation headed by Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq Rowsch Nuri Shaways  and Foreign Affairs Minister of Iraq Hoshyar Zebari arrived in Armenia on an official visit. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Iraq signed a memorandum of mutual understanding on cooperation.

Around 70 businessmen visited Armenia within the session of the Armenian- Iraqi intergovernmental commission on economic circle held in Yerevan.
