U.S. has certain expectations from Davutoğlu's visit to Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. The U.S. Department of State welcomes the visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Ahmet Davutoğlu to Armenia and is hopeful that his visit will provide an opportunity for dialogue between regional leaders. As reports “Armenpress” the Spokesperson of the U.S. Department of State Jen Psaki stated this at the course of daily press briefing held in Washington, DC on December 11, 2013. Among other things Jen Psaki underscored that the United States continues to urge both Turkey and Armenia to ratify the normalization protocols and to pursue tangible steps, such as opening the border, that can help strengthen ties between neighbors and create jobs and opportunity for the people of both countries. “So we certainly support the visit, and we’re hopeful they’ll be able to move the process forward,” Jen Psaki noted.

Ahmet Davutoğlu arrived in Yerevan on December 12 to participate in the meeting of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation.

The 29th session of the Foreign Ministers’ Council of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation will take place in Yerevan on December 12, during which the results of the six-month chairmanship of Armenia in the Organization will be summed up. The high ranking delegations of the Organization’s member states will arrive in Yerevan to attend the session. A press conference will follow the 29th session of the Foreign Ministers’ Council of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation. At the Ministerial meeting the BSEC chairmanship will pass from Armenia to Bulgaria.
