YEREVAN, MAY 31, ARMENPRESS: The issue of the natural gas price, supplied to the Republic of Armenia from the Russian Federation, is the issue of negotiations of the governments of the two countries. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan, answering the question of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe representative, why Russia decided to raise the price for the gas supplied to Armenia. “I think, that in the result of the negotiations between the two countries this issue will get its settlement”, - stated the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, emphasizing that the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation are strategic partners and any question, discussed between them, gets a positive solution.

The Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia considered reasonable to make the gas tariff 156 AMD for one cubic meter of gas, VAT included. The price for the electric energy is expected to be increased by 7-8 AMD.

"Armrusgazard" CJSC and "Transgaz" LLC applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia, offering to raise the current gas tariff from AMD 132,000 to AMD 221,000. It is suggested to raise the present price for the gas from 132,000 AMD to 221,000 AMD for the users (subscribers), who consume up to 10,000 normal cubic meter of gas monthly, VAT included.

The Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan sent an official letter to the Chairman of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia Robert Nazaryan. In accordance with the letter the Government of the Republic of Armenia will subsidize the gas tariff for 30 percent.

On May 15 the citizens gathered at the Government building demanding not to raise the gas tariff. The citizens intend to make the protest actions continuative and spread the wave in the marzes as well. On May 29 they impeded the works of the Public Services Regulatory Commission of the Republic of Armenia during the discussion of the gas tariff issue.
