18:28, 17 February, 2012

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 17, ARMENPRESS: The 19th Minsk International Book Fair was held in BelExpo National Exhibition Center, Belarus. The Armenian delegation was headed by Edward Militonyan, Director of Book and Publishing Center of Armenia.

Taking into account that this year the 500th anniversary of Armenian book printing is marked, as well as the fact that Yerevan has been recognized World Book Capital 2012 by UNESCO, the Armenian pavilion was given a special status, which enabled us to present the past and present of the Armenian book printing at its best. The relevant status was applied by the exhibition organizers for the first time, Culture Ministry of Armenia told Armenpress.

Armenian pavilion had more than 600 exhibits – literature, magazines and journals published in Armenia. Armenian Ambassador to Belarusia Armen Khachatryan, Belarusian distinguished poet Dranko-Maisyuk and others delivered speeches. A film dedicated to 500th anniversary of the Armenian book printing and Yerevan - Book Capital 2012 was shown within the framework of the expo.

Presentations, round tables and various meetings were organized during the exhibition days. New creative contacts and agreements were gained.

The Culture Ministry of Armenia received an honorary award for active participation and multifaceted exposition, and the delegates of Armenia were handed certificates.
