Armenia and Lebanon to reinforce economic ties

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS:

The political relations between Armenia and Lebanon are on highest level. It may be testified by active contacts and mutual visits, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan told at December 9 joint news conference with his Lebanese counterpart Michel Suleiman.

He stressed that Lebanon is a reliable partner for Armenia both in regional and global respects. "I have reiterated Armenia's readiness to continue close cooperation in political, trade-economic, cultural, educational and bilateral spheres," Serzh Sargsyan said.

Armenian President stressed that the documents signed between the two countries promote the cooperation in different spheres. "Today this list was added by seven new documents. The essential part of them relate to economic cooperation," President Serzh Sargsyan said. Currently Lebanon is the fifth investor in Armenia.

President Sargsyan stressed that the parties are yet far from satisfying figures thus it is important to promote bilateral trade and investments, establish closer contacts among the businessmen. The Lebanese-Armenian Friendship Association created in May 2011 may contribute to it.

The President of Lebanon underscored the necessity of using mechanisms for bringing into life the existing arrangements.

The presidents of the two countries were present at the signing of seven documents on developing cooperation in the spheres of tourism, economy, industry, sport etc.
