PM Tigran Sargsyan receives Catherine Ashton

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS:

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton.

Governmental press office reported that during the meeting Sargsyan said: "Our relations with the European Union have entered a new stage of development. As a result we have boosted the implementation of reforms in our country," Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said.

Catherine Ashton praised the process of development of Armenia-EU relations. Noting that they are impressed by the progress in Armenia in different direction, the EU High Commissioner underlined that "all prerequisites exist for the deepening of Armenia-EU relations."

"We are ready to help Armenia in ensuring economic progress, which can be greatly enhanced by the conclusion of an agreement on Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Zone. The negotiation will enter a new stage in the near future," Ashton stated.

Tigran Sargsyan briefed the guest on the government priorities and the works towards formation of middle class and civil society in our country, implementation of the European values.

The interlocutors touched upon a number of regional and other issues.
