Special Investigations Service launches proceedings on apparent torture

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 22, ARMENPRESS. The Special Investigations Service is launching proceedings on alleged torture after footage was posted online showing a group of men allegedly torturing a person.

According to unconfirmed media reports the perpetrators shown in the video are police officers and the incident has taken place in a police station.

The Special Investigations Service said it is preparing materials regarding the “apparent crime”.

The video is titled “Police officers coercing testimony with gas masks and baton”. It was posted on a YouTube channel on November 21st.

Earlier today, police said they are launching an inquiry over the matter.
