Sanasaryan faces new criminal investigation

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 31, ARMENPRESS. Davit Sanasaryan, the suspended Head of the State Oversight Service who is on trial over suspected misconduct, is facing a new, unrelated criminal investigation.

A criminal case has been launched over Sanasaryan’s alleged involvement in an auto-pedestrian collision when he is said to have run over a child with his car about a month ago. The 9-year old child survived.

Attorney Tigran Atanesyan, who represents the victim, said the child was mildly injured in the accident, according to a medical conclusion.

The prosecution confirmed that the investigation has been launched.

Traffic Police is treating the incident as Violation of Traffic Rules by the Driver which has caused bodily harm.

The news about Sanasaryan’s alleged involvement in the collision emerged in the press

When the press began to report Sanasaryan’s alleged involvement in the incident, he dismissed the reports as disinformation. He then said he is planning to file a report to authorities on extortion.  Few details are known about the case at the moment.
