YEREVAN, MARCH 13, ARMENPRESS. Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili held a tête-à-tête meeting today at the Armenian president’s office in Yerevan.

During the meeting Sarkissian welcomed and thanked Zourabichvili for accepting the invitation to visit Armenia and noted that the Armenian and Georgian peoples have history of friendship spanning for millennia, which will continue for future millennia.

“I have very fresh and pleasant memories when just a few months ago I participated in a very beautiful ceremony in Georgia, your inauguration,” Sarkissian told Zourabichvili. “I am very closely following your activities, especially in the foreign policy sector,” he said.

Sarkissian expressed conviction that cooperation in all sectors – from culture to science, modern technologies – has huge potential, and everything must be done for this cooperation to be deeper and more beneficial.

President Zourabichvili, thanking Sarkissian for the reception, mentioned that Sarkissian was the only president in attendance at her inauguration.  “It was a great honor for me,” she said. “It was a sign of friendship between our two countries, which I personally and our society highly appreciate,” she added.

The Georgian president said that the two peoples have a long path to pass together, and how the great existing potential in the region will be used depends on them.

She said that not only geography and history unite the two countries, but also the Armenian population of Georgia.
