Authorities to re-open criminal cases into non-combat deaths in military

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 21, ARMENPRESS. Authorities are planning to re-open criminal cases into non-combat deaths of active military personnel.

The government’s press service reported that PM Pashinyan has held a meeting with parents of victims of peacetime fatalities in the military and vowed to mediate in order for the law enforcement agencies to undertake additional probes.

The Investigative Committee and 10 human rights NGOs have signed an agreement in this regard.

A public monitoring group has been set up that will study the criminal cases whose official conclusions have caused suspicions among the public or have been considered biased or suspicious by the families of the victims.

Five criminal cases have been chosen to be the first revised cases.
