Visa liberalization with EU will still take time, says French Ambassador to Armenia

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. The issue of visa liberalization between Armenia and the European Union is a separate process and is not included in the Armenia-EU new agreement, French Ambassador to Armenia Jonathan Lacôte said during a press conference, Armenpress reports.

According to the Ambassador, this is a long process and will still take time.

“This is part of the EU practice, and every time it’s necessary to take into account the sequence of actions involved in the process. For this process the conformity of certain agreements is very important: when these necessary conditions are ready, the negotiations on visa liberalization process will launch which supposes to lead to the liberalization of visa regime. It turns out that this process should launch mostly in the country that submitted the application, rather than in Brussels”, the French Ambassador said.

Armenia and EU signed the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement in Brussels on November 24.
