Nature protection minister briefs President Sargsyan on ongoing reforms

YEREVAN, JUNE 8, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s minister of nature protection Artsvik Minasyan briefed President Sargsyan on the ongoing reforms and projects of the sector.

The President’s Office said minister Minasyan briefed the President on the modern technical solutions for the complete registration system of natural resources, improvement of the nature protection expertise institution, introduction of an electronic system for facilitation of license and permit procedures.

The minister also touched upon productive management and control of forest resources.

The President tasked to launch works on creating the unified forest management system and presented the pilot program on hiring private sector contractors for the protection of three risk branches on the Dilijan national park.

The minister also reported on registration of biodiversity, efficient use of eco-tourism potential, and other issues.

President Serzh Sargsyan also touched upon preservation and restoration of eco-system of Lake Sevan. The minister presented the prospect program on transforming the Sevan national park to a biosphere reserve.

The minister noted that upon the President’s instruction,

է 980.24 million m³ / t water was saved in the Ararat Plain as result of water saving, but the measures are still ongoing because the usage is still above the limit.
