YEREVAN, MARCH 22, ARMENPRESS. Germany for the 11th times within the last 5 months rejected applications for arms exports to Turkey, the German Ministry of Economic Affairs said in response to a question by left-wing MP Jan van Aken, Süddeutschen Zeitung reports.
The German side rejected the arms sales to Turkey with a concern that the weapons will be used as a means of pressure inside the country. The situation of human rights in Turkey also had an impact on Berlin’s such decision.
MP Jan van Aken said this is a first step, adding that as a further step must be considered the suspension of arms sales to Turkey.
