Former PM Abrahamyan issues statement on leaving Republican Party of Armenia

YEREVAN, JANUARY 25, ARMENPRESS. Former Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan issued a statement by reaffirming his decision to leave the Republican Party of Armenia and stating that he will continue remaining in the active politics.

He posted the statement on Facebook, reports “Armenpress”.

“Dear compatriots,

I have made one of the most important and difficult decisions of my life and I announce that I stop my membership to the Republican Party of Armenia. I have thought quite long on making this decision. Frankly, it was not an easy decision for me since I have devoted significant part of my life to the party, nearly two decades. I thank all my party friends for years of joint productive work. I thank former and current officials of state institutions, former and current leaders of Armenia’s provinces, cities and villages, thousands of our fellow citizens for all the achievements we reached together.

The team work, the dignity of each member of the team have always been and remain a priority for me. Of course, my place in the RPA will not remain open: new people will come, perhaps more intelligent or purposeful, but I would like them to be at least as patriotic and loyal to the state.

I am leaving the RPA, but will continue to be actively engaged in politics because I believe that I have enough strength, knowledge and experience to serve our state and people.

I will continue to live and work for the sake of Armenia.

God bless our country and the Armenian people”, the statement reads.
