Poland surprised that Armenia produces its own drones – says Polish Ambassador

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 9, ARMENPRESS. Ambassador of Poland to Armenia Jerzy Marek Nowakowski hopes that the Armenian products will be presented in the Polish market with greater quantities.

“2015 can be identified as a period when the Armenian-Polish economic relations achieved growth. Of course, that figure is not so satisfactory: the annual commodity turnover is 60-80.000 USD. There has been a significant growth especially in the export from Armenia to Poland. If the annual figure rises to 200-250.000, it can be considered as a real growth, therefore, it is possible to triple the commodity turnover. There are certain sectors that are interested in making investments in Armenia especially in construction, high technology sectors”, the Ambassador said, reports “Armenpress”.

He said the development of the Armenian-Polish economic relations depends on two factors, one of which is the psychological.

“For instance, “Lyubava-Armenia” military-industrial enterprise carries out investment here, cooperates with the Defense Ministry. Our businessmen are carefully following the success of that enterprise whether it is profitable investment or not. It can be said that here this enterprise is an example of experience on how to successfully act in Armenia’s market. The second factor is, probably, linked with the signing of the EU-Armenia framework agreement. The European Commission puts a special emphasis on Armenia’s competitiveness, and if customs tariff issues are settled, it will significantly ease the entry of the businessmen to the Armenian market”, the Polish Ambassador said.

He said Poland is also interested in cooperating with Armenia in tourism sector.

“If Armenia wants to become a member of Europe, it must also pay an attention to the road infrastructure”, he said adding that Armenia needs to be presented as a brand in Poland.

“It will be quite difficult if the Polish market will not be filled by the Armenian products. The problem is that the buyers are not aware about the existence of such product. They become aware by news on TV. Armenia, of course, is well known in Europe, however, it is not associated with concrete products”, Jerzy Marek Nowakowski said.

The Ambassador emphasized that for Poland it was a surprise that Armenia as well produces its own drones.
