Sharmazanov does not rule out new amendments in Electoral Code of Armenia

YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS. Armenian authorities do not stand back from the amendments in the Electoral Code, “Armenpress” reports RPA spokesperson, Vice President of the Armenian Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told the journalists after the Executive Body meeting of the Republican Party, commenting on the remark that there are rumors the leadership wants to stand back from the idea of registering the voters by fingerprints. “If there are some problems, they are technical and have nothing to do with the leadership. We made amendments at the National Assembly and I think some more amendments will be made during the autumn sitting”, Sharmazanov said.

He added the new amendments can take place if the authorities manage to reach an agreement with other political forces. “I do not rule out that we will bring new proposals over the Electoral Code”, he said.

Referring to the issue of promulgating the signed voter lists, Sharmazanov stated that he has already expressed his opinion over that issue and that opinion has remained unchanged.
