Minister of Education and Science visits “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” Educational Complex

YEREVAN, JUNE 13, ARMENPRESS. On June 13 Minister of Education and Science of Armenia Levon Mkrtchyan visited “Mkhitar Sebastatsi” educational complex where the start of the annual "Plein Air 2016", summer camps of further education, youth summer work and teachers' camps was given.

Teenagers from the Armenian districts, Nagorno Karabakh and Georgia were taking part in the summer camps, press service of the Ministry informed “Armenpress”.

During the talk with journalists the Minister said he had visited the educational complex 7-8 years ago, and significant changes have been made since then. "First of all, the idea of the summer camp has entirely been realized. We should pay more attention to activities in our educational programs. Outer-school education is very important for the child development. Education is generally based on two basic values: freedom and responsibility, and the more fluent that transition is, the greater the school mission becomes.

The "Mkhitar Sebastatsi" educational complex is one of the schools where that transition is fluent, and very often the age barrier is removed, and there exists an interesting teacher-student format. We will have big achievements if we are able to implement the idea of further education. For example, there will be a real change if we make the activity part obligatory for the standards of each school subject.

We might as well include the further education in the teachers' workload, and then we will try to accelerate the urgent reforms of our high school, in general, revise all the standards of public education", the Minister said stating that the "Mkhitar Sebastatsi" educational complex is in a quite good condition in many aspects and has a special budgetary funding.

"Any child should be able to realize how he/she will use the knowledge acquired at school," the Minister said.

Ashot Bleyan, the director of the educational complex, spoke about the summer plans of the educational complex, highlighting that they are good opportunities for both the children and teachers.

"We mustn't paraphrase the three-month-holiday into we have got rid of the school. Real opportunities are created in summer", he said adding that the educational complex is going to have its own educational racecourse and a new swimming pool.
