Open Skies Policy implementation will develop tourism in Armenia: Frank Brenner

YEREVAN, JANUARY 12, ARMENPRESS. There are serious prospects for tourism development as a result of the implementation of “Open Skies Policy” in Armenia. Frank Brenner, Director General of European Organisation for the Safety of Air Navigation, expressed such an opinion during his talk with journalists at Zvartnots International Airport.

“I have visited Armenia for the third time and taking the opportunity, I’d like to emphasize that I admire the beauty of this country. I think, there are many sights in Armenia that can attract tourists’ attention and Armenia will be able to have more tourists, if “Open Skies Policy” is implemented,” “Armenpress” reports, Brenner said.

He added that it is important not only to improve legislative framework but also raise the level of the country’s infrastructures in order to attract tourists.

He stated that Zvartnots International Airport with its technical equipment, human resources and standards is capable of providing services to many passengers.

The Government of the Republic of Armenia adopted a decision on the "Program for ensuring competitive and sustainable air services, and Program implementation activities in the Republic of Armenia" on October 23, 2013 which declared introduction of the Open Skies Policy in the field of civil aviation and air communication in Armenia.
