US expects meeting of Armenia and Azerbaijan presidents to relieve tension

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 12, ARMENPRESS. U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Richard M. Mills, Jr. considers a step forward the desire expressed by Armenia and Azerbaijan Presidents to hold a meeting to discuss the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone and find solutions before the end of the year.

In response to a question by “Armenpress”, the Ambassador said that the USA expects the presidents will discuss issues which are necessary to relieve the tension in the Line of Contact.

“We are pleased that the presidents agreed to meet. This is a very positive step, and we expect that the parties will have thorough discussions over the issues which are necessary to relieve the tension in the Line of Contact. We also hope that they will accept and express readiness to discuss the proposals presented by the Co-Chairs,” Ambassador said.

During his last visit to the region, US Co-Chair of OSCE MG James Warlick said that Armenia and Azerbaijan presidents had expressed a wish to meet before the end of the year and discuss the situation in Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone.
