India must 'speed up talks' on free trade zone with Eurasian Economic Union

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 9, ARMENPRESS. India must accelerate talks on the establishment of a free trade zone with the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU), allowing the country to enter a new market, India’s Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said. “Armenpress” reports the aforementioned referring to Sputnik International.

In June, the EEU and India began free trade negotiations, signing a framework agreement atthe International Economic Forum inSt. Petersburg.

"India is very keen tohave a free trade agreement asit opens upa new market ofEurasian Economic Union countries," Mohanbhai Kundariya said. "We need tospeed it up."

The Eurasian Economic Union, comprising Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Russia, aims tofoster greater economic integration betweenits member states, including the streamlined flow ofgoods, services, capital and labor.

"We have already formed a joint working group. But we want the joint study group towork faster toresolve issues toreach faster the free trade agreement," the minister added.
