8.2 magnitude earthquake shakes Republic of Chile

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 17, ARMENPRESS. Information was received from “Survey for Seismic Protection” of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia at 08:20 on September 17 that theSeismological Networkof theSeismic Protection Service registered an 8.2 magnitude earthquake in Republic of Chile at 02.54, local time. In the epicenter the magnitude of the earthquake was registered 10.

The geographical coordinates of the epicenter are southern latitude 31.570and western longitude 71.610. The epicenter of the earthquake is on the depth of 10 kilometers.The epicenter of the earthquake is on the depth of 20 kilometers.

As “Armenpress” was informed from the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Armenia according to preliminary data there are 3 victims and 15 injured, buildings and structures partial collapse. There is a risk of a tsunami.
