Daniel Feierstein: genocides must not only be acknowledged but their denial must be punished legally

BUENOS AIRES, AUGUST 24, ARMENPRESS. Famous genocide scholars had speeches on the last day of the international conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Armenpress reports, citing PrensaArmenia.com.ar, that former President of theInternational Association of Genocide Scholars Daniel Feierstein had a speech during the conference. The latter attached importance to the study of genocides aimed at their prevention in the future.

“In this reference the existence of legislative framework is very important. Genocides must not only be acknowledged but their denial must be punished legally.”, he said, adding that genocide scholars have serious work to do.

On August 20-23 the International conference dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide took place at theDepartment ofLawof theUniversityofBuenos Aires.During the conference the elimination of the impacts of the Armenian Genocide and lawsthatcriminalize genocide denial were discussed.
