Rouhani: Iran gives priority to its neighbors in economic cooperation

YEREVAN, AUGUST 4, ARMENPRESS. A number of countries try to make investments in Iran after the nuclear deal with “5+1”. But Iran, first and foremost, gives priority to cooperation with its neighbors.

“Armenpress” reports, citing “IRNA” news agency that the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani announced about this during the meeting with the Minister of Economy and Industry of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev.

According to “IRNA”, Rouhani called Azerbaijan “gate to Caucasus”. At the same time Rouhani has said that Iran can become a “route to the Persian Gulf” for Azerbaijan.

Referring to the cooperation in the sector of energy, Rouhani mentioned that “joint investments in the Caspian Sea can open a new page in that sector”.

For his part Shahin Mustafayev expressed confidence that the nuclear deal with Iran will have a favorable impact on regional cooperation and stability.

Shahin Mustafayev held another meeting with the Oil Minister of Iran Bijan Namdar Zanganeh during which Mustafayev mentioned that Iran can use Azerbaijani infrastructures to export its oil and gas to Europe and later can join the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP).

The Iranian Minister said that currently, the trade between the two countries is estimated at 500 million USD which can grow several times.
