Armenian Parliament Speaker receives Austrian Parliament’s People’s Party 
Chairman

YEREVAN, JUNE 26, ARMENPRESS: On June 26 the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Galust Sahakyan received Reinhold Lopatka, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the People’s Party of the Republic of Austria. The press service of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia informed Armenpress that welcoming the guest Galust Sahakyan expressed hope that his visit would contribute to the development and strengthening of the Armenian-Austrian friendly relations.
The Head of the Parliament highlighted the activation of the relations between Armenia and Austria not only in bilateral, but also multi-lateral formats.
The NA President thanked Reinhold Lopatka for the adoption of the resolution recognizing and condemning the Armenian Genocide perpetrated in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. According to Galust Sahakyan, that important step of the Austrian Parliament would promote the prevention of crimes against mankind in future.
The NA President informed that a platform of international cooperation “Parliaments against Genocide” had been initiated to be created by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, and in its formation he highlighted the participation of the representatives of the parliaments of all countries.
Thanking for warm reception Reinhold Lopatka, the Chairman of the Parliamentary Group of the People’s Party of the Republic of Austria, also considered necessary the activation of the inter-parliamentary ties. Touching upon the formation of the platform he noted that it would create new edges of cooperation.
In the course of the meeting issues concerning the development of bilateral relations and the inner-political situation of the two countries were also discussed.
