Van City Council pays tribute to Armenian Genocide victims

YEREVAN, 18 APRIL, ARMENPRESS: At the regular session, the Van City Council paid tribute to the victims of the Armenian Genocide and Halabja Massacres, taken place in Iraq. Armenpress reports, citing the Turkish Demokrathaber.net that the Chair of the Van City Council Cayit Bitchbay and the Spokesman of the pro-Kurdish “Peace and Democracy” party Ramazan Alver delivered speeches at the session.

“1,5 million Armenians were deported from their homeland then. It was genocide, a human tragedy. Though 100 years have passed, but the political authorities of the state try to conceal what had happened. And that will bring no good to the friendship and future of the nations”, - he said.
