Armenia back from “Book Art” 11th competition with eight awards

YEREVAN, MAY 30, ARMENPRESS. This year Armenia registered great success in the "Book Art" annual international competition of the CIS member-states held in Minsk. Our country presented nine books, eight of which won awards. In the "Book for Children and Youth" category first prize went to Hovhannes Tumanyan's "Fairy tales" - in Russian translation. In the "Dialogue of Cultures" category the prize went to Ruben Gevorgiants’ "Parajanov...a collage for two" work. In the "Science and Education" category Rafael Ishkhanyan’s "Illustrated History of Armenia" book won the first prize. The best "Book of Art" became Folkmar Gantshorn’s “Eastern Christian Carpet”, and "Printed in Partnership" award winner became Shmavon Shmavonyan’s "Ararat". Besides, one book won the second prize, another one received nominee's diploma and yet another one was awarded with special jury prize.

The Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Armenia Nerses Ter-Vardanyan, during the May 30 press conference underscored, that every year Armenia has participated in the "Book Art" international competition. "Compared to the previous years, this year's awards and achievements are more. In 2010 and 2011 we received three awards, in 2012 – four, in 2013 – six, and in 2014 we received eight awards, five of which were of the first class" – reports “Armenpress”, citing the Deputy Minister, who also congratulated everyone, especially the publishers. He expressed hope that further achievements will not decline.
