The symbol of Turkish currency symbolizes Erdogan’s name

YEREVAN, MARCH 2, ARMENPRESS. Deputy leader of Turkish Republican People's Party Faik Öztrak stated that the new symbol of the Turkish currency symbolizes the name of the Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Armenpress reports citing Turkish "Hurriyet".

Referring to the publication of new symbol of Turkish lira on March 1, Öztrak said that the final point of independence of the Central Bank of Turkey became making the first letters of Erdogan's name symbol of Turkish currency. The deputy leader of the Turkish opposition party noted that it is the best gift of the Central Bank to Erdogan who is not losing a moment to show his desire of becoming a monarch.

The Central Bank of Turkey ceremonially publicized the new symbol of the Turkish currency on March 1.

The symbol of Turkish lira is the reversed version of the Armenian dram.
