Not all Jews share Lieberman’s viewpoint on Armenian Genocide: Alexander Tsinker

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7, ARMENPRESS: As Armenpress reported earlier, Foreign Minister of Israel Avigdor Lieberman has stated the other day that Israel will never recognize the Armenian Genocide committed in the Ottoman Empire. We should mention that there is nothing new in Lieberman's statement, it is the position of the state of Israel during almost all the years of its existence.

Head of the Institute of Eastern Europe and CIS countries Alexander Tsinker gave an interview to Armenpress, clarifying what the Israeli PM specifically meant by his statement. Accoridng to him, Isarel really finds that nothing can be compared with the Holocaust. "But there are many processes of home politics in Israel related to which this or that poitical figure says what they want to hear from him.

So, in "Our Home is Israel" party, which Lieberamn represents, the Azerbaijani lobby is very strong, and naturally, it will come against recognition of the Armenian genocide, while the Armenian Party is strong in Likud alliance.

As for the thing whether the Jews recognize the Armenian genocide in the Ottoman Empire, I will say the following – lately I participated in a summit in Moscow dedicated to the Holocaust. Head of the Russian Holocaust Center Alla Gerber, answering my question on whether we admit that a genocide was committed, said, "Sure we admit, it was genocide," Tsinker said.
